We offer individually tailored sex addiction therapy and porn addiction counselling around the UK. We also provide support for partners and couple counselling.
Do You have challenges in your life – a life not yet fully under your control because of repeated behavioural patterns?
We help people reclaim their lives and be the best they can be by taking back control over compulsive & addictive behaviours without it bringing increased shame and eventually bringing colour back to life.
Sometimes face to face is just what you need. To have a sense that someone is listening, understanding and that you have been truly heard. This thing called “Counselling” is rightly also called “The Talking Cure”.
We all know we are now living in unprecedented times due to the Covid-19 epidemic. Consequently, we find ourselves in an enforced period of time where life no longer has the freedom or variation we once enjoyed. Furthermore, our current environments at home are very different to what we are used to experiencing. As a result, we may find ourselves behaving in unexpected ways, sometimes difficult to explain or understand and sometimes very harmful to those around us that we love the most.
At The Kairos Centre, we are aware of just how stressful this time may be, with no sign of relaxing the recent government sanctions to stay at home. To this point, as a business that uses technology and online services we feel privileged to be able to still provide help, support and assistance during this time.
Steps We Are Taking:
We have considered there to be an overwhelming sense of stress and anxiety during this period. Consequently, we recognise the obvious health and wellbeing issues that have arisen, however there is also some serious concern for many people financially. As a result we are keen to offer some of our services at lower costs in a group format.
We are ready to discuss this on an individual basis.
Please contact us by phone of email to register your interest in this initiative.
Otherwise called hypersexuality, Ego-dystonic Hypersexuality, Sexual Impulse Control Disorder, Sexual Compulsivity or Paraphilic and non-Paraphilic sexual behaviour. It is a Maladaptive pattern of sexual behaviour leading to clinically significant impairment or distress, as manifested by three or more number of key markers over a 12 month period. We know that brain development is a significant contributor. Mood altering sensations are enjoyable. Neurochemical changes – which the brain likes – helps to cope with the stresses and issues in life.
Porn viewing, like drugs and alcohol addiction tends to require increase or vary over time, to get the same level of arousal and stimulation. Sexual compulsive and addiction behaviours may include: Magazine pornography and / or Internet pornography (including phone and webcam use); Cybersex: Spending time online focused on sexual or romantic intrigue or involvement; Compulsive masturbation and / or Compulsive acting out; Using escorts and / or prostitutes; Chat rooms and social sites and / or Texting and visiting sex sites; Swinging and / or groups & Multiple flirtation and / or affairs; Sex binges and/ or fetishes and / or paraphilias.
All the Kairos Changement Recovery programme courses incorporate some of the topics from the full 26 weeks programme – gained from our evolving knowledge of Neuroscience. The addiction process is an interaction of impairments in three fundamental systems: Affect regulation, Motivation-reward and Behavioural inhibition. Treatment is focused on all three areas and so where there are unresolved past childhood issues, we will suggest consider EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) before moving on to the contents of this Recovery Programme. Then the client is in a better resourced, equipped and healed place to break the addiction.
“Once again he or she gets the attention and is using up the household income on their own therapy and I am left carrying their stuff on my own”.
This is an understandable complaint don’t you think? Partners, that is NOT how it ought to be or need to remain. There is help for female partners of sex addicts. There is only a handful of women’s support groups for partners of sex addicts in a few parts of the country. The Kairos Centre has developed a Support Group for Female Partners who can attend online, face to face, individual or group session. Check out the Course Calendar or contact us.
More than a Counselling and Therapy service. This was all about reclaiming my quality of living life.
“After a great deal of soul searching I have decided that now is the time for me to end my therapy sessions with you. You have taken me on a journey of self discovery which has proven incredibly helpful and will continue to be invaluable to me as I move forwards to wholeness.”
“I was so ashamed of who I was. In my eyes, I was too ugly on the inside to reveal myself. I feared that if I did let people know, those I loved would totally reject and judge me for some of the things I’ve done. I struggled with love addiction because of some things that traumatised me through life finding that many of those incidents occurred in my childhood years. Kairos has been an amazing help on my journey of life. I have learnt so much about my brain and how it can be my best friend. I feel like my journey to freedom has begun. I’m hopeful of complete change and I’m learning to let go and love myself.”
“Thanks again for all your hard work. You know when all is said and done and I look back on my life you will truly be remembered as a person who actually made a real difference. Thank you for the most excellent therapy & invaluable tools you have have shared- I will be forever thankful.”
